For Mrs. Rebekah Lewis

Hi Mrs. Rebekah,
Thanks soooooooooo much for commenting on my blog. I miss you too. I thought Mom, and Dad, and I were the only ones who have ever read the Scarlet Pimpernel? Everybody else just said "Oh I've watched the movie" but I'm sure it can't be as good as the book.
Pumpkin Butter is a lot like Apple Butter (I'm sure you've had that. Right?) and I just eat it on toast or biscuits or anything I would eat jam or jelly on.
I kind of remember being in your SS class but you are not old........I am:0) I'm going to be 14 in November!!! So now you don't have to feel old=)
I wish I could come down and visit you and Suzannah:) but maybe some time.

Pictures of Butterscotch

Here are some newer and older pictures of Butter.

Butter was trying to get a bone Chord had put on the handle of his bicycle. Doesn't he look like a polar bear? Mom took this picture of Butter in the bluebells

This was when we were camping. This is Butter's favorite way to lay.

Cum Libertate Iustitiaque onmibus (With Liberty and Justice for all)

Hi Miss Rebekah,

Here is the poem from Emma Lazarus. You probably remember it because you saw it alot earlier this week. But I like to write/type poems.

The New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,

With conquering limbs astride from land to land;

Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand

A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame

Is the imprisoned lighting, and her name

Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand

Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command

"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she

With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of you teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

And here is a verse mom found in the Bible about liberty: For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

Galations 5:13

Well I hope you enjoy this post, for those who have never heard the New Colossus. Have a good day.

Pumpkin Butter recipe (just for Heidi)

Hi Heidi (and anybody else who wants it),
Here is that recipe.
Pumpkin Butter
3 1/2 cups canned solid pack pumpkin
1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
3/4 tsp. ginger
4 cups granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
1 (3-ounce) pouch liquid pectin
In an 8-quart pan, combine the pumpkin, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger, stirring until smooth and well blended. Gradually stir in the granulated and brown suagars.
Over medium-low heat, heat the mixture, stirring constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved. Increase the heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a full rolling boil, stirring constantly. Stir in the entire contents of the pectin pouch. Return to a full rolling boil, stirring constantly. Boil, stirring constantly, 1 minute. Remove the pan from the heat and skim off any foam.
Ladle the hot butter into hot jars, leaving 1/4-inch headspace. Wipe the jar rims and threads with a clean, damp cloth. Cover with lids and apply screw rings. Process half-pint jars in water bath for 10 minutes, pint jars for 15 minutes.
Variation: Pumpkin-Pecan Butter
Stir 3/4 cup finely chopped toasted pecans into the pumpkin mixture after the pumpkin is dissolved and before adding pectin.
Makes about 7 cups
Hope every one enjoys :P Yummy!!!!

Her Majesty's Servants

Hi everybody,
I'm not doing much today but we are going to town tonight to shop for winter clothes :P and dad is going to take us out to dinner somewhere:) Yea!
Today for school, I read a story called Her Majesty's Servants and it's in the Jungle Book. It's about this man who can understand what animals say. He listened to a horse, mule, elephant, two bulls, and a camel argue over who fought the hardest in war. It ended up with all the animals finding out that this man was listening and they all went their own ways. But it was a really cute story. And here is a poem from the story.
Cavalry Horses
By the brand on my withers, the finest of tunes
Is played by the Lancers, Hussarsm, and Dragoons,
And it's sweeter than "Stables"or "Water" to me
The Cabalry Canter of "Bonnie Dundee"!
Then feed us and break us and handle and groom,
And launch us in column of squadrons and see
The way of the war-horse to "Bonnie Dundee"!

My first post

Hi everybody,
This is my first blog as you can see, so everything I write for now might sound kind of funny because I don't quiet have the hang of it but I hope you enjoy it anyway.
You are probably all thinking "Lady Marguerite"" who does she think she is! Some kind of snob or something" Well this name is actually from one of my favorite books The Scarlet Pimpernel this lady is the wife of a lazy lord and she ends up finding some amazing stuff out about him. If you've never read this book I think you really should read it.
Now about my blog name... well I like Classical music, Classic books, and just about anything else you could think of as being classical. So mom today was helping me choose a blog name and she suggested Classical Girl I really liked it and ended up doing my whole blog around that name. That is why I have a kind of old fashioned looking background.

Well that's probably enough for tonight.
